TSMC – Northern Phoenix Regional Headquarters

AF Steel Fabricators is proud to have partnered with Okland Construction as the structural steel trade contractor for TSMC’s new 204,000 square foot regional headquarters in Northern Phoenix, Arizona.

Designed as a world-class administrative, operations, and engineering hub, this landmark facility supports TSMC’s expanding semiconductor manufacturing operations in the region. As the world’s largest dedicated semiconductor foundry, TSMC commands over 70% of the global foundry market and produces the majority of the world’s most advanced leading-edge logic chips.

The project featured a highly complex structural steel design that demanded exceptional engineering precision, advanced fabrication expertise, and coordinated erection. AF Steel Fabricators delivered this scope through expert detailing, state-of-the-art shop fabrication, and meticulous field execution.

The structural scope included six long-span roof trusses, each measuring 211 feet in length and weighing approximately 200 tons each. These trusses were fabricated in five sections, shipped to the site, and field assembled in shoring systems before erection. AF steel utilized an 825-ton crane to hoist the trusses into place and a 330-ton crane for the simultaneous erection of the atrium roof steel, all while maintaining stringent geometric tolerances to achieve the structural and architectural design intent.

A signature 127’, 210-ton structural steel pedestrian bridge was shipped loose, fully assembled on site, and hoisted into its final position with only inches of clearance on all sides—showcasing superior precision engineering and erection capabilities.

The miscellaneous metals scope further included over 5,400 linear feet of steel screen wall and eyebrow support steel. A prominent grand staircase was also fabricated and erected, opening into the large atrium and prominently showcasing the architectural features of the building. In addition, six structural steel stair towers and six elevator core systems were delivered and installed with meticulous fabrication and installation.

From detailed engineering and precision fabrication to safe, accurate field erection, AF Steel Fab experienced team successfully navigated the projects significant logistical and technical challenges while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and schedule performance.
